Mayor and Council

At the February 4, 2025 council meeting, Jeff Bell, was elected and appointed to fill the council vacancy. He will be officially sworn in at the council meeting being held on February 18, 2025.

On November 22, 2024, Mayor Jim Aitcheson passed away. Mayor Aitcheson’s death resulted in a vacant seat on the Township of Perth South Council which engages s. 259.1(h) of the Act. At the December 3, 2024 council meeting, Acting Mayor Sue Orr was appointed as the Mayor of Perth South. This appointment then created a vacant seat on council. At the December 17, 2024 council meeting, Council declared the seat as vacant and directed the Clerk to to issue a call for nominations to the community to fill the vacant seat. At this meeting Council also appointed Councillor Robert Wilhelm as the Deputy Mayor for the remainder of the 2022-2026 council term.

The Clerk is now accepting nominations from qualified Perth South residents who are interested in serving their community until the end of the current term of council. Nomination forms are to be submitted in person to the Clerk during regular office hours. Nominations will be accepted until January 24, 2025 at 2 p.m.
