Township of Perth South Declares Emergency Due to COVID-19
ST. PAULS, ON - Today, at 9:30 am, the Township of Perth South declared an emergency in accordance with the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, 1990, as a result of the global Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. With the release of new statistics that are showing more than half of COVID-19 cases are the result of locally spread transmission, Perth South is joining the Province of Ontario in declaring an emergency to support Public Health officials' efforts to "flatten the curve" and slow the spread of COVID-19.
Declaring an emergency will give our municipality opportunities to further protect the health and safety of all individuals, families and businesses. This declaration also aligns with the Government of Ontario’s Declaration of Emergency made on March 17, 2020.
"It is extremely important that we send the strongest message possible to our community about the need to adhere to health and safety precautions as directed by Public Health" said Mayor Robert Wilhelm.
Residents are encouraged to continue to look to health officials for information about COVID-19. Locally, this is www.hpph.ca.
While our municipal office is closed, staff are still working hard to maintain service levels; however, there are some services that have been are impacted by the COVID-19 developments. Residents are encouraged to visit the Township's website www.perthsouth.ca for more information on service availability
