Building and By-law Enforcement |
The Building department aims to ensure public health and safety though the enforcement of provisions under the Building Code Act and Ontario Building Code. The By-law Enforcement function is to ensure public health and safety through the enforcement of several Township By-laws. These By-laws include zoning, property standards, discharge of firearms, fencing, burning, waste management, parking and noise. Clerks |
The Clerk's office is responsible for maintaining the Township's records, including by-laws, minutes of meetings, assessment roll, historical and all other information as required by statute or regulation. The Clerk and/ or designate conducts the municipal elections and provides for the swearing-in of Councillors and appointed officers. The Officer provides the official notices in regards to land use planning matters and issues certifications as may be required and authorized. The Clerk's office issues licenses including lottery licenses. The Clerk's office prepares Council agendas, coordinating reports and recommendations from the various departments, committees and boards for Council information and decision-making. The Clerk also provides background reports and advice to Council, implementing policies as adopted by Council. Requests for delegation to a Council Meeting is arranged through the Clerk's Office, and should be requested prior to the Thursday that precedes the Council meeting. Public Works |
The Public Works department is responsible for the maintenance of all roads, sidewalks, and storm sewers under the jurisdiction of the Township. There are two Public Works facilities, with one in St. Pauls and the other in Rannoch. Maintenance includes all matters related to transportation services including road upkeep, construction and winter control. The Public Works department is also responsible for the maintenance and removal of trees on municipal right-of-ways, fleet purchasing, maintenance for all municipal departments and the maintenance and operation of the Blanshard landfill.

Treasury/ Administration |
The Treasury department is responsible for handling all of the financial affairs of the Township in the manner of and as directed by the Council. These responsibilities include:
The Finance department works with Council and all departments to provide timely information throughout the year to ensure that the budget is monitored closely. The Financial department is continually reviewing costs to promote savings and obtain the best value for each municipal dollar spent. The role of the Administrator is to ensure that the broad mandate of administrative and operational requirements of the Township are carried out efficiently and effectively. All department heads report directly to the Administrator, with the Administrator reporting directly to the Mayor and Council. The Administrator represents the Township of Perth South along with the Mayor at various meetings with other municipal governments and Provincial officials.
